ice fishing

Two elderly men were taking a sociology course at a local university through a seniors education expo. They were so confident that their knowledge from years of experience in life would guide them going into their final exams, that two days before, they decided to go up north to do some ice fishing with some friends.

They had a great time ice fishing, catching one of the biggest fish of the weekend. The reminisced with friends, had plenty to eat, and got well rested, However it was not all good, they overslept and didn't make it back until late the morning of the exam. Rather than take the final, and have only a short time to do it, they found their professor afterward to explain why they missed the final.

They told him that they had gone out of town to avoid distractions, and had spent the time studying very hard.  They had planned to come back in time to write the exam, but that they had a flat tire on the way back, and didn't have a spare, and couldn't get help for a long time, so they were too late in getting back to campus to write the exam.

The professor thought this over and told them they could make up the final on the following day. The two men were relieved and happy they had deceived the professor. They studied hard that night and went in the next day for the final.

The professor placed them in separate rooms, and handed each of them a test booklet and told them to begin. Both men looked at the first problem, which was worth 5 points. It was something simple. "Great," they thought. "This is going to be easy." They finished the first problem and then turned the page.

Question #2 said: "Which tire?" and was worth 95 Points.

Points To Ponder

Give a man a fish...
As the old adage goes; Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. But teach a man to fish and he will... go out and buy expensive fishing equipment, stupid looking clothes, a sports utility vehicle, travel 1000 miles to the "hottest" fishing spot, and stand waist deep in cold water just so he can outsmart a fish. Average cost per fish: $395.68, but who’s counting?
